Who Moved my cheese

Who moved my cheese is a story about 4 mice that live in a great big maze where they have access to a seemingly unlimited source of cheese until one day, it is all gone. All 4 have a different reaction and subsequently a different approach to the problem.

I first came upon this story during a Real Estate seminar and although I thought it quite apt for Real Estate, it immediately rang true for the hospitality industry especially for restaurants and nightlife.

It is a story as old as time but the telling of it in this very simplified and childish way emphasizes its importance. It also highlights traits and reactions all too common in this industry which provides the reader great perspective and self analysis.

I recommend that anyone who wants to last in the restaurant industry read this short story - should not take you more than 30 minutes or so - in order to fully appreciate the importance of innovation and change.

You never know, your source of cheese that is today abundant might just disappear.
